Interior Design Tips

How to Transform your home this winter

At Mabel Fox, we believe that creating a cosy and inviting home is essential, especially during the cold winter months. In this blog, we'll explore some of our favourite winter interior design tips, focusing on elements that add warmth and character to your space.

1. Fire Places

There's nothing quite like the prospect of snuggling up by the fire during the chilly British winters. Not every home has a fireplace, but for those that do,  we strongly believe in preserving the fireplaces wherever possible to allow our clients the pleasure of enjoying the warmth and ambiance they provide. To enhance this focal point, consider decorating the mantelpiece. An excellent tip is to use reflective materials like metal and glass, as they not only capture the warm glow of the fire but also bounce light around the room, creating a welcoming and bright atmospheric space.

2. Lighting

As the days grow shorter, thoughtful consideration of lighting becomes crucial. While ceiling fixtures and spotlights are standard, incorporating lower-level lighting can make a room feel more relaxing. Floor lamps, table lamps, wall lights, and even candles or fairy lights during the festive period all contribute to creating a cosy ambience. We particularly recommend Pookey.com, one of our all-time favourite lighting manufacturers, offering an affordable yet elegant range of lighting options to suit various interior styles.

3. Window Dressing

Transforming your home into a warm sanctuary during winter evenings involves careful consideration of window dressings. As darkness falls, closing curtains or blinds not only retains warmth but also softens the appearance of the darkness beyond. Choose window dressing colours that harmonize with the room's colour palette and aesthetic. By doing so, you can curate your very own cosy winter haven that welcomes you with warmth and style every evening.
