How to create an office space now that so many of us are working from home

Many of us now have not just one but two people working from home, maybe even more if you have grown up kids still in the nest. How do you make sure everyone has a decent space to work in? You could build a garden office, or maybe extend your home. If this is not an option right now, then how about getting some efficient space planning and clever storage designed for you?

How about converting one wall in your dining room into your new office?

You have got space to work plus cupboards to hide the unsightly paperwork away. Beautifully painted shelves can provide further storage as well as a fabulous feature, especially when painted the same colour as the walls

How smart is this bedroom office solution? There is absolutely loads of clothing storage as this bespoke cabinetry is built in - wall to wall as well as floor to ceiling.

The moody blue colour ensures a gentle calm feel to the space, making it work in a bedroom colour scheme. I suggest being able to put the computer keyboard/laptop in the drawer to hide it from view once you have finished work for the day, to give that separation between work and home life. This space will make a great dressing table if it is no longer needed as a desk in the future.

We were asked to squeeze a desk space into a recent kitchen project, which was actually built before lockdown. Thank goodness we did because it has now become a home office for one of the clients in this new world of working from home.

Another mighty fine option is creating an office cupboard essentially, you might be able to fit on in on your hall or landing, or again in a bedroom or living space.

Bifold or sliding doors open to reveal a brilliant little desk space, with drawers and shelves, task lighting and even your favourite shade loving plants, to brighten your working day.

If you are in desperate need of creating a home office, or even just need to create more space with careful planning and bespoke storage solutions, get in touch, we look forward to working with you very soon.

Warmest regards from Team Mabel
