Plant Shop Design

Here at Mabel Fox we loved designing this shop space on Mill Road Cambridge. This shop is home to two independent businesses, ‘Small and Green (a beautiful little plant shop) and The Garden Kitchen (a lovely local catering business occupying a small counter and kitchen at the rear of the store). 

For the exterior shop facade, we chose the shade Breakfast Green by Farrow & Ball to correspond with the plants for sale inside. The shade was made in Zinsser All Coat, this type of paint can be used on any surface including metal, plastic, wood etc and it even acts as its own primer, making it perfect for the shop front. We selected off black by Farrow & Ball Dado Rail Height, Shadow and white for the remaining wall up to picture height, and finally we used the same breakfast green as we selected for the exterior for the highest point of the wall and over the ceiling. We chose to paint the ceilings and the lower section of the wall in darker colours to give the shop a more cosy, homely vibe. We hoped this would help the customer invision what the plants would look like in a home environment. 

For the display cabinetry we selected oak shelf ladders along one wall and a simple white boxed shelving unit along the other. Finishing the room with an old refectory table in the centre of the room and XL, 70cm drum shades on the ceiling with a palm jungle print on the interior of the shade and a dark blue on the exterior.
